Organizations working for the betterment of Ritchie County recently received more than $50,700 in grant support from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) and its Ritchie County Community Foundation (RCCF) affiliate through their competitive Community Action Grants Program. The fall 2022 grant recipients include:

  • Ritchie County Humane Society - $9,375 to renovate and repair the basement dog and cat areas. ($8,375 from the PACF and $1,000 from the RCCF)
  • Pennsboro Volunteer Fire Department - $8,800 to purchase larger diameter supply hoses. ($8,500 from the PACF and $300 from the RCCF)
  • City of Pennsboro - $5,100 for lighting improvements at Sullivan Gymnasium. A portion of the grant was made from the Lowell and Wilda Jackson Charitable Fund for Pennsboro. ($4,500 from the PACF and $600 from the RCCF)
  • Ritchie County Sheriffs Office - $750 toward the purchase of an additional K-9 unit. ($250 from the PACF and $500 from the RCCF)
  • Nazareth Farm - $9,000 to assist with home repairs in Ritchie and Doddridge counties. ($500 from the RCCF, $2,500 from the Doddridge County Community Foundation (DCCF), and $6,000 from the PACF)
  • Catholic Charities - $12,675 to support the Mobile Wellness Works food pantry. ($500 from the RCCF, $1,575 from the DCCF, and $10,600 from the PACF)
  • Sleep in Heavenly Peace - $5,000 to purchase materials to build and deliver beds to children in need in Ritchie and Doddridge counties. ($500 from the RCCF, $1,000 from the DCCF, and $3,500 from the PACF)
