Seven local organizations were the recipients of grant awards from the Lewis County Community Foundation (LCCF). The LCCF is a permanent endowment in which the principal remains intact and invested, forever, generating earnings to help support Lewis County needs today and forever. Annually, an advisory committee of Lewis County residents awards a portion of the Fund’s earnings as grants to local organizations and causes. This year, the LCCF awarded $20,200 in grant support to organizations serving Lewis County and its residents.
Grant awards:
- Catholic Daughters of the Americas - $1,000 to provide a self-defense course to empower local women.
- City of Weston - $3,500 to build a playground at Lively Park.
- Lewis County Commission - $8,390 to support the Blueprint Trail Initiative.
- Lewis County Farmers Market (Lewis County WVU Extension) - $1,800 to provide a free farmers market concert series during market hours.
- Lewis County Park - $2,510 to purchase a new volleyball net and a new layer of sand for the court.
- Rotary Club of Weston - $1,000 to support creativity workshops which will be offered to area youth
- St. Patrick School - $2,000 to make renovations to gymnasium for use by the students and the community.
These grants were made possible thanks to generous donations to support the work of the Lewis County Community Foundation and with special help from a Benedum Foundation grant challenge, which matched donor gifts.
