During a flood in February 2022, most of the dock at the Ohio Valley Rowing Club (OVRC) was washed down the Ohio River. A $3,500 Special and Urgent Needs (SUN) grant from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation enabled OVRC to repair the dock.

OVRC found and recovered four sections of the dock about 16 miles downstream near Reedsville Ohio. The rescued sections were transported upstream to the OVRC Boathouse where they were repaired and made useable.

The rescued dock and related repairs saved the Parkersburg High School spring rowing season. The team was able to proceed with spring practice and compete in their scheduled events with great success.

"About 45 student athletes were thrilled to row, rather than stay home for the season," said John Agpar with OVRC. "Thanks to the PACF, the docks were rescued in a timely manner. Without this help I don't know that this what would have happened."
