The Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) recently granted $23,000 to two health-focused organizations in Roane County through the Foundation’s fall Community Action Grants Program. The PACF is committed to improving the lives of people in its eleven-county geographic service area and brings together the financial resources of individuals, families, and businesses to support the region’s nonprofits.

WV Health Right, Inc. received a $10,000 grant to provide funding for the mobile dental unit to continue to provide free oral health services to low-income individuals in Roane County, WV. Roane General Hospital was awarded $13,000 to continue to fund FARMacy, a program that offers free, fresh produce and the knowledge of how to use this produce to participants. These grants will help these organizations to continue their efforts in supporting the health and well-being of the community.

Andrew Raines, Director of Medical Fitness, Therapy, and Wellness at Roane General Hospital shared, “This will be our fourth season providing produce to our community participants. In 2023, FARMacy served 60 participants and their families in Roane County. In order to sustain this much needed program, the funding received from the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation will be utilized to offset the cost of local produce. We would like to continue to grow our program as funding becomes available.”
