The Minnite Family Charitable Fund has awarded a $5,000 grant to the Vienna Recreation and Improvement Association (Vienna Rec) to support the installation of new hockey rink structure. Sourced from Pittsburgh with the help of Conley brothers, Cale and Vinnie, and Zayne Minnite the upgraded rink will enhance recreational opportunities for both youth and adults in the Mid-Ohio Valley.

The upgrade comes in response to the growing success of the floor hockey league through Vienna Rec. The league has gained significant traction from youth and adult participants, and the brothers proposed that the Minnite Family Charitable Fund support the purchase of the outdoor hockey rink board structure to help accommodate the increasing demand. The upgraded rink will provide a versatile space for a variety of athletic activities, including outdoor roller hockey, which has not traditionally been accessible in the region.

The Minnite family's connection to Vienna Rec runs deep. In the early 2000s, their grandfather donated the building that houses some of the programming for the Association. Cale, Vinnie and Zayne recall participating in Vienna Rec leagues as kids—and now take joy in seeing their own children enjoy the same space.

Jeffrey Slusher, President of Vienna Rec, said, “We are deeply grateful for the Minnite/Conley Family and the gift from the Minnite Family Charitable Fund. Their generosity enables us to enhance our programming and offer more opportunities for the community. The family’s dedication to our mission, and the way they engage with local projects, truly makes a difference.”

The family’s legacy of generosity began decades earlier, when Pat Minnite Sr.’s mother prepared meals for neighbors in need. That tradition of giving has carried through five generations and continues today through the PM Company’s annual Spirit of Giving Campaign and the establishment of the Minnite Family Charitable Fund in 2021. The family is honored to bring projects they wish to support to their family's advisory committee to shine a light on the needs of the community. Their charitable work remains vital in supporting local nonprofits and strengthening community life.
