The Little Kanawha Area Community Foundation (LKACF) recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.  An anniversary celebration was held on August 1st at the Two Runs Community Building in Palestine, WV, where community members, donors, and nonprofit leaders gathered to commemorate this significant occasion.

Founded in 2004 as a regional affiliate of the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF), the LKACF partners with generous people to build permanent philanthropic resources that strengthen our region.  What started as a single grantmaking fund in 2004 has now grown to a collection of 18 named funds dedicated to the betterment of Calhoun, Gilmer, and Wirt counties.

Since its inception, the LKACF and PACF have awarded more than $1.79 million in grants and scholarships throughout its three-county service area.  Recent grantees include the Arnoldsburg Volunteer Fire Department, Calhoun County Public Library, Gilmer County Ambulance Service, Gilmer County Volunteer Fire Department, and Wirt County Board of Education. These grants highlight the Foundation’s unwavering commitment to enhancing local communities through targeted support.

This milestone underscores the generosity of donors who have entrusted LKACF with their philanthropic gifts.  The Foundation administers several grant opportunities, each uniquely designed to address the needs of local nonprofits, reflecting the passion of individuals and families dedicated to community improvement.
