Naomi Jean Cupp was the daughter of the late Paul D. Cupp and Naomi R. (Cox) Cupp of West Union born in 1930 at the family home place. She was a 1948 graduate of Doddridge County High School serving as a class officer. She continued her academic studies completing her R.N. as a 1952 graduate of the St. Joseph School of Nursing in Parkersburg, WV. She then led a distinguished career in nursing and hospital administration serving 42 years as the longest serving nurse at the former St. Joseph Hospital and involved with several state and national professional associations.

As an active Roman Catholic, Jean was a member of St. Francis Xavier Parish of Parkersburg and a long-time member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a past officer and current member of the St. Joseph School of Nursing Alumnae Association. She devoted her time to her family and friends through travel, gardening, creativity, hospitality, and generosity.

Jean created The Fund for St. Francis Xavier Church with a gift in her estate which will forever support the church and its programs. The annual distribution of the Fund is to be used to help preserve the Church structure as a historic facility and to support the preservation of the religious art work and edifices contained within the Church itself.
