In response to a vision for ministry that God placed in their hearts, Joe and Jane Kincheloe established a scholarship fund at the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation. Their desire was to share this ministry with their church, Stout Memorial United Methodist Church. With permission from the Church's Administrative Board, they created the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund to provide financial assistance to graduating high school seniors who plan to further their education. Mr. Kincheloe and his daughter Jane E. Kincheloe Wilfong are the owners of Kincheloe Motors, Inc., an independent pre-owned automobile business. Their business was founded by Harold W. Kincheloe, Mr. Kincheloe's father, in 1948 and was located in Sistersville, WV, as a Chrysler dealership. In 1963, the dealership was moved to Parkersburg and was a Chrysler business until 2009. They have been a family, full-service business for more than 60 years. Mr. Kincheloe's grandfather was Guy M. Kincheloe, a former Wood County Commissioner and local school teacher. Mr. and Mrs. Kincheloe have one child, Jane E. Kincheloe Wilfong, who was a past recipient of the Dr. Marie Boette and Esther Cunningham Scholarships. Jane is a Registered Music Therapist, having graduated from The Ohio University in Athens, Ohio and completed an internship in Music Therapy at AUH Forbes in Pittsburgh, PA, in May 1998. Jane is now part-owner of Kincheloe Motors, Inc. and continues using her music education in the community, playing both piano and organ at local churches and giving private piano lessons. Recipients of the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Scholarship must exhibit the ability to achieve, have been active in the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Youth Group, and be planning to attend a post-high school educational institution. Recipients are selected by the Foundation on the basis of involvement in church, school, and civic activities, academic achievement, and potential. If a situation arises where there are fewer than three students active at the Stout Memorial United Methodist Church Youth Group who apply in any given year, recipients may be chosen who reside in Wood County or Washington County and who are active in their church youth group.
