Mary Suzanne "Suzie" Widmeyer established the Smoot-Widmeyer Community Fund in 2003 to support several local organizations including the Vestry of the Trinity Episcopal Church of Parkersburg, WV, and Camden Clark Memorial Hospital. This fund also supports many other funds held at the Community Foundation: FaithLink Endowment Fund, Good Samaritan Clinic Advised Fund, Habitat for Humanity Fund, Spay/Neuter Fund for the Parkersburg Humane Society, and to the Community Action Grants program of the Community Foundation.

Suzanne was born in Parkersburg in 1927 to Dr. Robert S. Widmeyer and Sarah E. Smoot Work. She was the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Smoot, lifetime residents of Parkersburg. She attended Finch College in New York City, and graduated from the Eastern School for Physicians Aides in New York City. She returned to Parkersburg where she worked as a medical laboratory technician at St. Joseph's Hospital.

She was devoted to helping others, and volunteered for many organizations, including Good Samaritan Clinic, Meals-On-Wheels, Souper Saturday, FaithLink, Red Cross, and Salvation Army. She was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church.

She passed away on June 29, 2007, however, the fund she established at the Community Foundation will allow organizations that she supported during her lifetime to be supported for generations to come.
