The Smoot Theatre is a mainstay for the arts in Parkersburg. Run solely by volunteers, the Smoot has enticed thousands of tourists visiting the area each year with its renovated interior and first class programs. Area residents also benefit from the wide variety of arts programs provided each year by the Smoot. The restoration of the Theatre also has been an incentive for the revitalization of downtown Parkersburg.
The Smoot Theatre Endowment Fund was established by the Theatre's Board of Directors to provide an ongoing source of support for the organization. An annual distribution from the earnings on the fund is made to the Theatre each year.
