Through a bequest in their will, Ray L. and Mabel S. Vannoy created a fund in their name to support the recreational needs of area youth. They wanted to provide programs for children in areas such as baseball and basketball. The couple, residents of Parkersburg, wanted to see Mid-Ohio Valley youth prosper, and their generous gift will provide continuing support to young people in our area.

Mr. Vannoy was born in Jackson County, a son of the late John W. and Annetta Lockhart Vannoy. He worked for Ames Baldwin Co., the state Highways Department, and American Viscose and later retired from Corning after 31 years of service. He and his wife were members of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church.
