The KASA Memorial Scholarship was established in 2006 to honor the memory of Katherine and Stanley Ash. 

Katherine Ann Sutton Ash was born in October 1940 in Avon to George and Pauline Nicholson Sutton. She attended Jarvisville Grade School and Bristol High School. In May 1958, she married Rev. Stanley Wayne Ash, who was born in March 1940 to Lee Hi and Leeta Gail Davis Ash. Katherine was affiliated with many Baptist churches, including Fairview, Beckley, Barnes Memorial, Rube Ave, Kansas City, Grantsville, and New Lexington. She had worked for Alkire Tire in Clarksburg and the Beckley Register newspaper. Stanley graduated from Doddridge County High School in 195 and8, Fairmont State University in 1971 with a BA degree in Social Studies and Education. He graduated from Central Baptist Theological Seminary in 1975. Stanley began his ministry in 1966 at St. Paul Baptist Church in Fairview and pastored many churches during his 30 years of ministry. 

The KASA Memorial Scholarship was established with the Doddridge County Community Foundation affiliate in 2005 to honor Katherine's memory. Upon the passing of Rev. Ash, the scholarship kept its abbreviation, however, the name was changed to include Stanley. They were the parents of Pamela (Carey Fisher), Jody (Kayla) Ash, Suzanna (Richard) Patterson, Noah Ash, Stanley (Hayley) Ash, II. Katherine and Stanley were great supporters of the county's schools, where several of their grandchildren attended. They continue to support the county through this scholarship.
