The Harold F. Salsbery Scholarship Fund was created by Mrs. Ella Mae (Ellie) Salsbery in memory of her husband, Harold, to provide support to graduating seniors from any high school in Wood County who plan to major in pharmacy. Selection is based on financial need and outstanding scholastic performance.

Ellie Salsbery was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, and attended private schools in the Cincinnati area. She was a commercial artist and designed greeting cards for Gibson Art of Cincinnati. Ellie continued as an artist over the remainder of her life with her work in oils, acrylics, and watercolors being sold nationwide through her agent. Her last "one woman show" was held in Parkersburg for the benefit of the Art League in July 2005. Ellie passed away at the age of 88 in 2007, having been preceded in death by her husband Harold, who died in 1983. Ellie and Harold had two sons, Don and Trigg, and two grandchildren.
