Through a gift left through their estate, Harlan M. Law and his wife, Lillian G. Law, will forever provide meaningful scholarships to graduates of Ritchie County High School.

Harlan was born the son of Royston D. and Gertie Swisher Law in Burnt House, WV in 1928. He was one of eight children. A graduate of, the now closed, Harrisville High School in 1947, Harlan was a Navy veteran of the Korean War. On August 20, 1955, Harlan and Lillian were married. Then in 1963, they moved to Hilltown, PA where Harlan worked for the former Hatfield Recon Center for more than thirty years. Harlan passed on April 21, 1995.

Lillian was born the daughter of Mary and Anthony Gattuso. She was one of five children. A very private person, Lillian worked as a real estate agent for most of her working life. She was born in Philadelphia, PA and lived in Hilltown, PA for the last 50 years of her life. She was 82 years old at the time of her death on October 16, 2015. Friends recall that she was kind and generous and supported many charities.

The Harlan M. and Lillian G. Law Memorial Scholarship is designed to give scholarship support to a Ritchie County High School graduate who plans to attend or is currently enrolled at an accredited post-secondary educational institution, with preference given to student pursuing technical and/or non-college educations, though college educations will be considered.

Through this charitable fund both Mr. and Mrs. Law's giving nature will live on in Ritchie County!
