Estella Marie Schaber established this scholarship fund through a bequest to the Foundation. The fund provides scholarships to students with financial need who reside in the Foundation's service area.

Estella Marie Schaber was born in Valpariso, Indiana, on April 4, 1914. After attending Boone Grove High School in Valpariso, she graduated from Little Ford-Nelson School of Commerce in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1934 with her secretarial degree.

Ms. Schaber worked for Du Pont companies her entire career as a secretary, starting her career in 1935 at the Kings Mills Plant in Kings Mills, Ohio. She then moved to the Remington Arms Plant in Bridgeport, Connecticut in 1945, working there for two years.

In 1946 Ms. Schaber transferred to the Washington Works Plant, Construction Division, in Parkersburg, West Virginia, where she worked until 1948 when she moved to the Operations Divisions at the Washington Works Plant. Ms. Schaber continued to work for Du Pont until 1979 when she retired from the Payor's office. She was known at the plant for her homemade soups, particularly vegetable soup, which she would bring into the office to share. Ms. Schaber never married although she enjoyed the company of children very much. Her other passion was the opera, and she would travel to Cincinnati yearly to enjoy this pastime.

By creating a fund to benefit students, Ms. Schaber will long be remembered gratefully by the students that her scholarship assists.
