Edward G. Stephenson's love and commitment to animals will live on through the Ed Stephenson Fund for Animals.  This fund, established by his friends and family, including longtime friends Brenda Brum and Kevin Whitby, aims to support animal welfare in Wood County, West Virginia, and Washington County, Ohio.

Ed was born on August 18, 1951, in Levittown, New York, to Nora and George Stephenson.  His journey led him to West Virginia, where he attended Salem College and began his teaching career in Doddridge and Wirt counties.  He later became a Uniserv consultant with the West Virginia Education Association and continued his advocacy work with the Ohio Education Association after retirement.  Known for his passion for a good challenge, Ed thrived in his roles.  He passed away on February 20, 2013.

"Ed loved boating, travel, food, and fun," said Brenda.  "He had a special love and affection for animals, and he was a generous friend.  Ed wanted to have an ongoing way to support animals.  With a fund through the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation, we can honor Ed's wishes, and, as Ed's friends, it provides us with an ongoing cause to support in his memory."
