The Dave Elmo Memorial Scholarship Fund provides an annual scholarship to a graduating senior from a Wood County, WV, or Washington County, OH high school. To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be a member of their high school golf team in their senior year, must have a minimum 2.5 grade point average, and must be planning to attend, full-time, an accredited college, university, trade or technical school to pursue a two or four-year degree or a technical program of study. Recipients are selected based on involvement in the sport of golf, financial need, and academic achievement/potential, with emphasis on financial need and on supporting a student with a strong desire to achieve his or her educational goals.

The fund is supported through proceeds from the Dave Elmo Memorial Golf Tournament, which was initiated in 2007 by Dave's longtime friends and golfing partners John Estep, Charlie Gragg, Danny Ash, and Teddy Daugherty. Through the creation of this scholarship fund, Dave's friends celebrate Dave's love of the game and the positive relationships it fosters among its players.

Born on June 29, 1946, Dave Elmo attended Channel High School in Maple Heights, OH, Heidelberg College in Tiffin, OH, and graduate school at Kent State University in OH. Dave resided in Parkersburg, WV, from 1974-2002. Dave passed away in November 2006 and is survived by his wife Sally Kusterer Elmo of Oak Island, NC, and his two children, Molly and Chris.

Dave began playing golf at the age of eighteen and continued to enjoy the sport throughout his life. Dave enjoyed the camaraderie of the golf leagues in which he participated, and he made beautiful, lasting friendships through golf. The Dave Elmo Memorial Scholarship Fund continues Dave's legacy by helping youth who share his passion for the sport of golf to pursue their education.
