David Ritchie was a 1964 graduate of Parkersburg High School. He attended Marshall University where he met and fell in love with Cheryl Oxley who later became his wife. After college he enlisted in the Air Force. He loved his service to country but was asked by his parents to return to Parkersburg to take over the management of the family business after his mother became ill. He was the President of Parkersburg Distributing Company from the mid-seventies until March of 2004. At that time Cheryl was diagnosed with cancer and David sold the company to concentrate on Cheryl's health and treatment.

David and Cheryl had no children but loved to travel and were fortunate enough to have traveled all over the world. They realized how fortunate they were and quietly gave to many organizations and individuals over their lifetime.

David had many fond memories of growing up in the Parkersburg area and attending Trinity Episcopal Church. Upon his passing, he left a substantial charitable bequest to create the David and Cheryl Ritchie Memorial Endowment Fund. This fund makes an annual distribution to benefit the Trinity Episcopal Church in Parkersburg. This was one of the organizations that David and Cheryl quietly supported throughout their lifetimes. Now, by setting up a permanent charitable fund, the Ritchies' devotion to helping Trinity will continue forever.
