Carole was born in Parkersburg in 1937. From the beginning she always had an interest in playing and listening to music. She learned to play the piano as a child and enjoyed participating in choir activities.

After graduating from Parkersburg High School, she attended Asbury College where she earned a bachelor's degree in music education. She later went on to earn a master's degree from The Ohio State University. She spent 38 years teaching music and first grade, thirty-three of those years were with the Belpre City School District. She enjoyed helping her students learn.

She was also a member of St. Marks United Methodist Church in Belpre and for five decades she was a member of the choir, organist, and choir director. She loved arranging music and performing special programs for Easter and Christmas.

To forever honor Carole and her passion for music, the Carole Lewis Craig Memorial Music Scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to a student pursuing a major in music or music education.
