C. R. Thomas graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1936. Education was an important factor in Mr. Thomas' life, and he worked with young people wherever he lived, encouraging them to accomplish their dreams in life.

Mr. John C. Bolger recognized Mr. Thomas' dedication to the lives of young people through the creation of a fund in his honor, known as the C. R. Thomas Scholarship Fund. This fund carries on the work of Mr. Thomas, benefiting young people in their pursuit to further their education.

The C. R. Thomas Scholarship is awarded to a student from Parkersburg High School who exhibits a great dedication to the community or others in his/her years at the High School. Financial need of the recipient is also considered in the selection process.
