The Ami-John Crawford/J.J. and Harriet C. West Prize provides an award to the best all-around student of any Parkersburg middle or high school. The fund honors Mr. and Mrs. John M. Crawford, who generously established the Ami-John Prize in 1928, and J.J. and Harriet D. West, who also created a prize fund.

Both families recognized the importance of rewarding students in their quest for knowledge, and this prize fund provides on ongoing legacy to these families' support of education. Recipients are chosen on the basis of service, leadership, character and scholarship. The Wood County Board of Education selects recipients.
