As part of our Community Foundation Week celebration, the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation (PACF) invites Board Members and Staff to join us for a special site visit to North Star Child Advocacy Center, a long-time PACF grant recipient making a remarkable difference in our region. Don't worry - we will post a recap of the tour on our Facebook!

Since 2013, North Star has received more than $123,000 in PACF grant support, including a $19,740 grant during the spring Community Action Grant cycle to support building expansion and IT upgrades. The organization recently purchased a permanent facility to accommodate its growing operations and enhance its ability to serve local children and families.
Led by Executive Director Greg Collins, a former law enforcement officer, North Star Child Advocacy Center serves as the frontline responder for children affected by sexual abuse and violence in Wood, Wirt, Pleasants, Calhoun, and Ritchie counties. Since opening its doors in 2014, North Star has provided critical services to more than 3,000 children.
At North Star, a multidisciplinary team of professionals—including child protection staff, law enforcement, family advocates, medical experts, and mental health clinicians—work together under one roof to coordinate care and ensure the best outcomes for each child. Services include forensic interviews, family advocacy, crisis intervention, transportation assistance, mental health therapy, and access to medical treatment.
During this site visit, attendees will have the opportunity to meet the North Star team, tour their new facility, and learn more about how the organization’s compassionate, collaborative approach is creating safety, healing, and hope for children across our community.
