Born and raised in Parkersburg, Leslie "Joe" Menzies was an active member of local Boy Scout Troop 4, where he became an Eagle Scout and an Assistant Scout Master. Mr. Menzies attended West Virginia School of Pharmacy and practiced pharmacy for thirteen years in Pompano Beach, Florida. In December 1992, he died unexpectedly.
Friends and family of Mr. Menzies established a fund at the Parkersburg Area Community Foundation in his honor. The Leslie "Joe" Menzies BSA Troop 4 Memorial Fund benefits Boy Scout Troop 4, based at St. Andrews United MethodistChurch in Parkersburg. The fund supports outdoor camping experiences for the members of the troop.
